I shared the snap with my principal immediately, but he was already gone for the day so I had to email.

Some are saying this is another shitty tiktok thing.

Man this fucking sucks. Waiting around with no idea how to process this information.

One of my friends is a HS teacher and they had the same thing happen. There's a tik tok meme of a realistic sounding school shooter note that's easy to photoshop in your school's specific details and apparently it's being used by kids to get their schools shut down.

Take it seriously, and follow-up with administration, but don't sweat too much over it.

Yeah, I work at a school and I guess a lot of schools have sent out a message saying there has been a lot of threats online to do multiple school shootings tomorrow [12/17] and our schools sent out a warning to parents

So gun violence has become so normal in America, that people look forward to it now.

I mean, I doubt parents today as a whole are much worse than parents of prior generations but their kids didnt do stuff like this. I would reckon it probably has more to do with technological progress changing what is and what isnt feasible for kids to do and how tech has changed how kids social lives and interactions are structured, though obviously thats not to say technology progressing is a bad thing, theres just opportunity costs that come with it.

Any kids spreading threats of school shootings, even just as a meme, should be treated by the police as if they have made a credible and immediate threat - let's see how many likes they get for being taken into custody and treated like domestic terrorists.

This is part of the reason why I don't teach in the US anymore.

this literally has nothing to do with anything.

peer clout and peer acceptance is just as big of an issue as peer pressure was for my generation and the ones immediately after.

social media is a fucking huge problem for younger kids who need constant validation and acceptance.

with the amount of school shootings and violence in the world a parent shouldnt have to tell a teenager this is a bad fucking idea, it should be literal common sense.

and we as a society reward stupid fucking tik tok and YouTube videos and content creators that encourage this shit.

Kids arent any worse these days lol. Just now they have a platform that promotes their unbridled shitiness. When I was going to school kids were doing stuff much worse than this. I could only imagine if they had a global platform.
