imagine torrenting. On the school network. But realizing it won't work. So you try to download it regularly from a website and open a .exe file and get your school laptop infected and try to say it was because of the firewall blocking it

Also did you know that website to do with piracy is about pirates? Because it's for a history project. So the student was definitely just going to the pirate site to... learn about pirates according to his mom.

His laptop broke so his parents signed an agreement to get a loaner.
I literally just put on MS Office and Chrome and explained he hasn't got admin rights.
He then spent literally two hours trying to bypass the filter on it to get to some variation of 'le common named pirate site'.
He then gave up on torrenting after failing to fucking install 'le torrent downloader'

He then decided to find a direct download site and downloaded an exe and it literally scrambled the fucking homepages of chrome, edge and for some reason, internet explorer.
Also it kept trying to install a fake anti virus like every five minutes.

His defense is: I wanted a site about pirates. I was trying to learn it for my history project.

I just realized I have to explain to these people the concept of a fucking torrent program

Expulsion seems a bit extreme for your made up story/scenario today.

Is our fictional character a repeat rule breaker at this fictional school? Has he hindered other fictional students learning or caused irreparable damage to many of your fictional schools fictional computers?

Torrenting is sharing a file. You have a copy of it and you help people copy it. Like printing it from an email.
But sometimes you can use torrenting to copy illegal things like a game that takes up half the space on the laptop you have. And sometimes you copy it from a person you don't know and they send you a virus and here we are.
