It's such a weird experience. It's like every constituent part of this game is incredible, but when you put it together it's bland.

It's like a pizza with all of your favourite toppings, cooked to perfection, but somehow it's a sad pizza.

Like the Nemesis system. I don't know if I've ever seen such a complex system so beautifully fleshed out. And yet why do I fucking hate it? Why do I feel like recruiting orcs and dealing with ambushes is just a fucking chore...

They needed to add some kind of unwinding task like fishing or a little farming section to break up the monotony of all the bad ass brutal shit

That's a good point I think. I still love the game because it's fun to just murder the shit out of orcs but that's really the only thing you do.

Shadow or Mordor was a lot of fun but it has some of these problems, and I skipped shadow of war because it was literally just designed to sell microtransactions

I can never tell if people are being genuine or not when they say shit like this.

Every game Ive played that was supposed to be rUiNeD bY mIcRoTrAnSaCtIoNs was completely fine and anything involving microtransactions wasnt even a critical part of the game.

Anyway, the first game was definitely better. I feel like they overcomplicated Shadow of War.

I need to try it out.

I played the first one on 360, which did not work well at all.

The goddamn pause menu had a loading screen.

People say it because of an overly long repetitive portion at the end of the game, but the microtransactions did absolutely nothing to speed that up.

Yeah, they're like the microtransactions in a lot of Ubisoft games

People bitched about microtransions while saying it would be different if it was just cosmetic. Now people bitch about cosmetic microtransactions. I don't even know anymore.

The Nemesis system was great. Having the orcs I raised so lovingly get murdered permanently kinda sucked, though. My favorite part was shaming minibosses and having them come back super pissed about the humiliation, haha.

Even though its longer and offers more content, its somehow worse than the first.

People love the nemesis system but it doesn't really add anything that fun for me. Maybe if there was more story but at the end of the day its just "surprise its me!" moments followed by flavor dialogue. Tiresome after a while.

And don't get me started on how ridiculously stupid and pointless the weapon system is. Just needlessly tedious to unlock "the best weapons" which by the way, is only possible in the boring post game where there's no story, you just try to reconquer all the land and bases again. Which you already did in the main game... its like replaying the same level over and over again

And the fact that they nerf both the character and combat abilities in order to try and incentivise you to do all this is what really irks me. There's all these combat options now and yet my character still feels weaker than he did in the first game

I don't know if I agree with you there. I felt significantly stronger in Shadow of War. It's just that the game is a lot harder than Shadow of Mordor was.

I do understand why individual mechanics could be considered tedious though. I wasn't very fond of the weapon system either. But I enjoyed the game overall more than Shadow of Mordor.
