This comes days after polling showing most Latin/Hispanics dont prefer it, as many as 40% hate it:

This is backwards. Its a more inclusive term, we need to be pushing it further, not giving in to the bigoted masses with their gender-privilege. In time they will learn to like it or stay quiet & keep their bigotry to themselves.

I always preferred "Latin@" over "LatinX". @ keeps both the "o" and the "a" in it.

The definition of gender in languages is not the same as gender in terms of sex in a cultural or societal perspective. You're misunderstanding the word if you condone or encourage the attempts to create more "inclusive" labels for an ethnicity.

I think it's fine.

Saying "latino and latina" is a mouthful. It's also why I say "Happy Holidays" because "merry christmas and happy new year" is too long, nevermind for all the random minority stuff the person possibly is but probably is not celebrating.

A gender-neutral version of Latino/Latina for non-binary, transfolk, and people of other genders who are of the Latin community.

I assume most of the Latin non-binary/trans/etc. community like & want it. It was made for them by some of them after all.

I still don't understand why the push isn't just for the term Latin to be used in place of Latino and Latina. Seems like an infinitely more logical jump than randomly adding an x to the end of it.

Spanish speaking LGBT individuals use Latine as has been mentioned in every topic and people continue to ignore this and fight over a meaningless thing that has already been solved. Latine is gender neutral, Spanish speakers use it, Latinx is a meaningless American cultural footnote that contributes nothing useful and encourages pointless debate.

I haven't looked into it much. But the evidence that came to me is that it's just white people power trippin and trying to force a term we didn't agree to on us under the guise of doing it for us lol. But, I also don't really care enough that I'm gonna get angry about it. There's probably some people out there that ride for it. There always is. But I'm not gonna just adapt it cause white people told me it's what I should be called now lol. Seems backwards as hell.

Come on, you on how this goes. If one Latin person says we want to be called Blurbles now, is that just it? We're all blurbles from there on? >_>. The community has rejected it. If they accept it, I will. Cause I don't care in the end. I just care how it becomes the overall term.

I'm not of the race in question, so I have no dog in this fight and no right to any strong opinion on the matter.

That being said, though, making a new word to describe a group of people when there was already a perfectly serviceable word for them seems extremely silly to me.

It's always amazing that people vote for a party that dreams of putting them all in camps and then deporting them to South America. Just in general, country doesn't matter. As long as they get dumped somewhere else that's all that's important.
