The text messages are among thousands of documents Meadows has turned over to the committee, according to Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who revealed the messages Monday evening as the panel gathered topass a resolution to hold Meadows in contempt of Congress.

Cheney said Meadows, who served as Trumps chief of staff during his final months in office, turned over thousands of emails and text messages as part of a previous agreement to cooperate with the panel, but he has refused to testify, despite being ordered to do so by a subpoena. Meadowss attorney said the former top White House aide believes his testimony is protected by executive privilege.

Sean Hannity, another Fox News star, asked if Trump could make a statement asking people to leave the Capitol.

Cheney also described multiple texts Meadows received from Donald Trump Jr. similarly urging the president to take action. Hes got to condemn this s*** ASAP, Trumps eldest son wrote to Meadows, who replied: I'm pushing it hard. I agree.

Cheney, a prominent GOP critic of Trumps actions that day, concluded: These text messages leave no doubt the White House knew exactly what was happening at the Capitol.

Yep. No one can reasonably deny that they knew exactly what was happening, if that wasn't already obvious enough.

Yes, but it is unclear about whether a previous president and/or previous chief of staff can claim executive privilege when the current president doesn't. Judges are seemingly siding with the idea that only the sitting president/administration decides whether executive privilege shall be applied as cases make their way through the courts.

It makes no sense to have a large part of the justice system rely on a single person who is probably corrupt to begin with

Yeah, there is an effort underway by democrats in congress to pull some presidential powers back and increase penalties and oversight. The Trump administration repeatedly violated the Hatch Act, but did nothing about it. So they want to make it so that it isn't solely up to the president to decide who gets punished for that.

I was reading some of the texts last night on some site, I was drinking so I woke up thinking it was a dream. How these people can say all that in the heat of it but shill for Trump after the fact shows a clear lack of soul and integrity. I mean you always knew this, but to see it be confirmed is just disheartening.

The fact that he had this kind of relationship with all the talking head hosts on a news network he promoted as not lying that they just send text messages to him giving him political advise is ridiculous.

Yeah, this is the wildest thing about this story to me. Fox News is pretty fucking close to state-run media as it was, but learning they have White House officials on their contact list and speak with them like this makes me kinda sick.
