From the time I trialed it, the pet for the pet class were useless

What's the closest thing to either a warlock (dps that drains health and doesn't die) or a demon hunter (tank with fuck ton of mobility and self healing)

I will accept 'nothing in the game has great mobility and good survival for soloing'

You have to press tab to change who you're targeting and who you will hit, unless they changed it. So... Nah

warrior has a stupid amount of self-healing atm, can heal himself thru a dungeon without really needing a healer

I think Dark Knight has excellent survivability but I play Monk solo and DK as my second class so I've never really done MSQ on DK.

yeah but blue mage is kind of a meme class, you can't do a lot as it

Blue mage is the strongest job that can't do any content

Warrior is the only tank that can really self sustain, the other 3 tanks can't survive on their own so well

Nothing similar to warlocks

Not saying they can't survive, but they can't do massive self healing like warriors can and completely invalidate the need for external healing

Warriors can't do that either, with Endwalker Gunbreakers have healing on par with warriors now with Aurora buff and HoC. I can actually solo A rank hunts now.

Are there any classes similar to a blood DK from WoW? Insane self healing and insane agency over their own ability to survive. A cooldown for any situation, cheese mechanics that would kill lesser tanks, solo older content because you heal yourself too much etc

Ive never made it past 30 the few times Ive tried playing but I want to give it another goare people generally ok with newb tanks while leveling or is it as GOGOGOGO FUCKFACE as wow is?

Ignore odegaze or whatevers topic, hes not the norm in FF14. Its an extremely newbie friendly game, and the community is very helpful. I great ARR for the first time myself the other day and I only had one situation where the group was rushing through ignoring me who was watching the cutscenes etc. although to be fair, nobody explained any mechanics but from what I played it was all so easy that you can ignore all the mechanics, at least until the final dungeon or two of ARR

I've not played it much myself, but I know it has a reputation for being much, much less toxic and more newb-friendly than WoW.

Is that so? I'd heard Paladins could self-sustain with Clemency, but maybe that changed with the expansion.

They can but it drains your MP fast and you need MP for your damage rotation

so the warrior self healing is only 10 seconds on a 90 second cooldown?

No, they have several healing CDs

Paladin and Red Mage are the go to jobs for soloing. Ranged DPS have the highest mobility (Bard, Machinist, Dancer).

Warrior feels somewhat similar to blood dk, both use a big 2h weapon and can sustain themselves. Thematically they're very different though, warriors are kind of goofy but fun lorewise.

Closest to dh would be gun breaker imo but only because gb feels like you're playing a dps class even though you're a tank. Nothing in ff comes close to dh mobility and feel.

Summoner is probably closest thing to lock but only insofar as they both are caster classes with a pet, otherwise they're very different.
