I like to picture people like Hank Hill buying a truck. He buys it at sticker price and thinks he is getting a great deal.

The average consumer is quiet, goes in, gets what they need, and gets out.

The average boisterous consumer is a moron.

Just because someone is quiet doesn't mean they aren't a moron

Yeah that me when it comes to headphones and iems. I mainly use hd600 but have bought stuff up to 4 grand msrp. More expensive stuff past the 400 usd price range really arent better at all . They just have a diff tuning. In some cases they have much lower thd but i cant even hear thd lower than -27db so what is the point really? I still buy headphones and iems just to compare them to hd600. My next purchase is prob the audeze crbn because it weighs 300 grams and based on fr charts itll prob sound like the hd650. Im curious to know if its electrostat drivers + bigger cups will have an affect on its soundstage height and width. I will find out in a few weeks. I predict the only difference is that the bass sounds cleaner cuz its made by audeze who have the current record for lowest thd for their planar headphones (below like 0.5% ) at 114 db across the frequency range. Hd600 in comparison reaches 6% thd @ 114 db in the sub 200 hz region iirc. Still audible to me. 6% thd = -24 db so i can hear it.

Also audeze crbn has a flat midbass vs hd600 that has a slight midbass hump. Thatll contribute to how "clean" it sounds.

The average consumer is a deal-chaser, outside of occasional vanity. Sometimes both.
I could probably retire on Lego sets I bought on clearance.

The existence of pet toys is because consumers are dumb. Cats just need a box and dogs just need a stick.

Yeah deep down i know i dont need them but i still buy regardless. I like going on /hpg/ (headphone general on /g/ its been dead for the past 2 days tho) threads on 4chan and just telling them my findings. Some appreciate it others tell me i have bad ears or bad source etc.. i mean i can still hear up to 17.6 khz depending on the headphone so i still have semi-young ears. Some people just criticize what amp or dac I am using and i just see that as a form of cope tbh. Since there is so much snakeoil in the audio hobby and measurements show that a clean cheap amp is just as good as a clean expensive amp. Sure some amps will change the frequency response somewhat but that is usually the result of a too high of an output impedance (measures bad in thd generally). I understand that some changes are more pleasurable to the ear but it is not what the manufacturers intended.

I mean I could too. But think about all of those who buy Lego at retail price. It is the majority.

Those are the ones I put together immediately, plus also clearance Lego Mario sets.

Then again, all three Ecto-1 sets are still boxed. Those were "ohshit buy now!" (maybe not the 2016 one) - and they've appreciated nicely, out of laziness.

Lego Voltron was definitely a dumb-consumer buy, but holy shit that's a good one. It's worth a lot in ziploc bags.
