how accurate is the image to reality?

also, can you manipulate the details of the room, or just maintain a static image?

It's pretty good, accurate but the quality is like watching a video in 240p lol.

I moved around the room if that counts

Like 80%. Which is good for how much stuff is out and about. The difference between a clean and messy room is bigger than the difference between how good ie bad your memory is lol. Not to mention how long it's been in that arrangement. That's where I got most my % from. My house is semi messy, but stuff doesn't move a lot.

This reminds me of someone I knew with a condition called aphantasia.

Essentially having a blind mind's eye.

The story he told on what it was like was fascinating to me.

that's exactly what this is about. i've known i am for about 10 years, now. i mentioned it in another topic, and this was my way to break the news to @Kakapo

i expected more 3s and 4s, though. this many 5s is surprising and a bit depressing.

I think playing video games, especially older ones, helps with both this and lucid dreaming on some level. Being able to path find, picture characters not as sprites but what the sprites represent, perceive the environment around your character, plan strategy for next encounters and so on.

So let me get this straight? You get like a freaking picture in your heads?

I thought when people said mental image they were speaking figuratively.

I can remember whats in the room, but its always internal monologue style descriptions. No picture.

You can try and imagine yourself interacting with the room to help build the image

Ooh.

Can you post a link to that thread?

I missed it.

not much to tell. i can't see brain pictures, at all, except for like once every couple years i get a random visual dream.

i might be able to answer any specific questions, but the experience itself is just my normal

I always thought "visualize it in your mind" was a figure of speech since all I see is black.

The mental image when I close my eyes is more accurate than what I actually see.

I don't understand. Are we talking about general spatial awareness or being able to "see" what's in one's room without literally seeing?

Because I'd imagine most people could walk through their homes blindfolded and find everything with relative ease if they lived there long enough.

sorry. it's apparently a lot more common than anyone ever realized, precisely because for whatever reason, almost everyone who has it believes that everyone has it. and those who don't have it never consider that anyone can't do what they can do.

So its just kind of floating over your vision?

If youre imagining something in your head, is it like something that gets superimposed over what youre seeing, or is it like a separate monitor?

In this scenario I saw it in first person with a third person me doing stuff in the room

Yeah, but where do you see it? Is it actually going through what your eyes see, or is there like a separate screen that this stuff appears in?

I just imagine everything as it is relative to the actual space between me and whatever,

items pop out of the blackness when you close your eyes

I can basically perfectly "picture" where everything is but it's not really a picture, it's more like I just have sections of the room blocked off as various objects in my mind. if I concentrate on a single specific object I can mostly picture what it looks like but it comes out sort of 2D, which I guess makes sense to me because I can picture 2D visuals in my mind just fine

Nothing at all.

I do get stream of conscious associations of internologue riffing off red star playing in my head when I try to imagine it, though.
