Do you think 300 billion is "unreasonable" in this case?
Vote
A Texas Sports Bar has been ordered to pay a massive 300 BILLION to the victims of a family of 59 y/o Tamra Kindred and her 16 y/o granddaughter, Aujuni Anderson who were both killed in 2017 by drunk driver, 29 y/o Joshua Delbosque who ran a red light at 91mph and ploughed into them with his Dodge Charger as he too also died.... But the sports bar was held liable after Kindred's daughters brought a lawsuit against the now closed Beer Belly's Sports Bar wh oserved Joshua a dangerous amount of alcohol Although they were awarded the money, the women do not expect to receive any money as its geared towards awareness about drink driving and cautioning venues not to overse their customers They said despite him being intoxicated, Joshua was still able to open a second tab and served several more drinks that night and when he left, he had been served at least 11 times and had a blood alcohol of 0.283 that is 3 times Texas' legal driving limit of 0.08 and usually enough to make most people lost consciousness Just moments after he left in booze, he ran through a red light and crashed into the women. Kindred was on her way from picking up her granddaughter from her job at Cici's Pizza The lawsuit says "Beer Belly's was trading money for the safety of their patrons and the public by continuing to serve an intoxicated customer" The bar closed in 2019 and its owner was ordered to pay 1.04 billion in "actual" damages and another 300 billion in "exemplary damages" The family's goal was only to warn businesses who overserve alcohol to customers and letting them go knowing they are putting others at risk behind the wheel Do you think 300 billion is "unreasonable" for this? PerfectChaosZ posted... Why don't the people that sell guns get sued for selling mass shooters a dangerous amount of bullets Just yesterday, the California governor announced he's using the recent Supreme Court ruling about people in Texas suing over abortions as a way to push legislation through so people can sue gun manufacturers and distributers. https://twitter.com/CAgovernor/status/1469865007517089798 --- Change is weird. ... ChaosTonyV4 posted... This cant be real It's not actually. They don't actually have to pay the 300b because Texas doesn't require bar owners to carry liability insurance. It's basically just a fake number made up to "paint an example" or something I don't know. That said, while 300 billion is absolutely insanely too high, bars should be held liable for overserving people. Part of a bartender's job is absolutely to cut somebody off when they've had too much. --- Seplito Nash, Smelling Like the Vault since 1996 Step FOUR! Get Paid! ... Copied to Clipboard!
