Ignoring the stuff you could do specifically with CFW, yes it was. Even if it was a bit limited by its specs it still had better specs than the DS and could do some flashy things as well as gameplay things that weren't done on DS. Like ports of the PS2 GTA games. Library is a bit limited but has some surprising gems. Just don't use UMDs for anything. They're crap. I'm glad the PSP can natively emulate the PS1 but it didn't need to emulate its load times when you play UMD games. They're loud too.

And the 2000 had perfectly fine battery life in my experience, which is just one of the improvements from the 1000.

Anyone recommend any games for it? I didn't own one but my roommate did and all I remember playing on it were ports/remakes (of admittedly some of the best games ever) and FF7:CC

I guess its because it came out towards the end of the life cycle but I am always amazed that I've never seen anyone else with a PSP GO. I have both the original PSP and a GO and I only ever use the GO. Given how PSPs were used and the complaints about UMDs, I'd have thought the GO would have gotten more love.

^As bad as UMDs were, it was (IIRC) the first attempt at a download-only system, and before Sony mandated that all games must be downloadable, so some big titles (Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep being the main one I remember) weren't available for it.
Basically, the Go was an idea slightly ahead of its time, and many people weren't ready to give up physical ownership of games yet.
Plus, while the Go did have built-in storage, Sony memory cards are notoriously overpriced, so if you want a big library you'd have to spend almost the cost of the downloaded game again to have somewhere to put it.

As for exclusives worth having-

> Jeanne d'Arc
> LittleBigPlanet (a different game to the PS3 one, despite having the same title)
> Persona 3 Portable (yes, it's a port, and in some aspects a downgrade from FES, but FeMC and full control of your party make this the best version)
> Wild ARMs XF
> Archer Maclean's Mercury (later Mercury games have ports, but the first is, AFAIK, PSP only and has a very different art style)
> Valkyria Chronicles 3 (Fan translated, so you'll need CFW to play it properly)
> Ys vs Sora no Kiseki: Alternative Saga (Also fan translated)

LocoRoco 1 and 2, although later ported.
Work Time Fun
Dissidia 1 and 2
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles? (Remake and original Rondo of Blood with SotN port)
Most stuff seems to be ported or I don't feel that strongly about it.
