My biggest gripe with recycling bottles and cans is that they leave behind a unholy stench, especially if you collect beer cans or save your own beer cans.

and probably the biggest letdown is the amount of money you earn from collecting them is not worth it. the amount you earn is based on weight and not how many you collect. you will earn more if you squash your cans or bottles (as it increases the weight of your load)...

So no it's not worth it.
You're better off shredding unused USB's and salvaging the copper/silver wiring.

I also wanna mention that recycling cans and bottles takes up a lot of space...
So yeah... Your backyard or patio space will look like a landfill if you choose to salvage plastic bottles or aluminum cans.

Aluminum and plastic are very common materials, their value is very low of all things you can salvage.

If you want decent money salvage harder to obtain materials that are most commonly found in computers, cell phones or any wires you have lying in your house or simply go to a goodwill and look for second hand electronics that aren't worth much (despite their value, they still might have a few precious materials that can be salvaged).

Even broken TV's that you might encounter in your every day life can be salvaged...

cans are ok, but nothing crazy. bottles not so much. especially if the recent reports of plastic recycling being shady are accurate.
