Rappers have always done this. Same word, different meanings. If you've got a favorite rapper, he's probably done it.

Thanks for actually listening to all the songs tho. I usually get skipped over in these types of topics or never gotten to

Good point.

I cant say I dont skip over people, but its always accidental. If someone cares enough to post a song in one of these topics, I make its only polite to listen and give the song a listen.

I dont normally listen to rap, so this is a good experience for me.

First ones unavailable.

Fort Minor - nice. Its a song, but its a story that needs to be told.

Wretch 32 - there are a few things in this song that make me go this is a really misogynist point of view

Ok this one tries to emphasise with women, but it still comes across as a kind of reedy lip service. Still good to hear, cheers.

Max Richter - this is quite beautiful, thank you.

Samuel Barber - Ive heard this before, but Im always happy to listen to it again.

To be honest, I always tend to get it mixed up with Albinonis Adagio in G minor, which I *used* to know how to play bits of on the piano.

i was first exposed to barber's adagio playing homeworld, as it has a choral arrangement called 'agnus dei' that fit well there

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRL447oDId4

i found the story of adagio for strings pretty interesting--it was first performed live for the nation when FDR died, and has since been used as a kind of default dirge whenever any major national event took place (it was played at the sept 11 memorial ceremony, etc) and featured in platoon, among other films

on the nature of daylight is just a really phenomenally challenging viola piece that I was introduced to by a friend at the strathmore, the accompanying cello and violins support it so well that i feel you can inject whatever story you want to it

Adagio for strings has definitely become very much classic and a default funerary dirge, thats true. (And rightly so!)

To be honest, Ill probably make my mum listen to On The Nature of Daylight. Its quite incredible and shes the one who instilled in me an appreciation of classical music. This is one of those pieces you need to pay forward, if you get me. Thank you:

Are you saying this recognizing that it's suppose to be 2 ends of a super toxic relationship? The actual rapper isn't the guy in the video. It's just without the revelations that Whose Fault has. At the end, they just stay settled in in their shitty relationship. Which is sadly pretty true to life alot of the time. The point is supposed to be that the guy's a huge misogynist.

Oh. I can read it better with that context. My bad. The guy's transgression in the song are definitely far worse than anything the woman did. He's textbook toxic in every way. The woman seemed to just not understand her worth. Heavily hinted at with "I dunno why love made me settle for you". And it's wild that people actually have this many problems and at the end of the night still be like "You're still my love". I definitely prefer Whose Fault, but there's not a lot of songs I found that get this deep and brutally honest about toxic relationships. Hell, mainstream stuff romanticizes toxic relationships most the time.

Probably one of my favourite, and absolutely heart wrenching songs that makes me tear up. Wonderfully captures the feeling of those who have lost someone to addiction, suicide or seen someone fall away from their life.

I'll just quote mine again as got missed and too lazy to find another sad song right now like I said I would.

For shame.

They're a natural reservoir of both rabies like viruses and filoviruses.

Nah, I like them too.

When I was growing up, a neighbour wanted to get a tree cut down in their back yard, because they said they were "scared" of fruitbats.

It also coincidentally was in the place they wanted to get an extension built.

Somehow, the neighbourhood got a protection order slapped on it, even though it was a hackberry.
