Whose Side Do You Take?

Bride reasons it's because ex-friend wasn't supportive of the relationship for years. Ex-friend stands her ground and inexplicitly takes their entire friend group with her; bride is left with just family to attend.

If the entire friend group leaves decent chance the guy sucks big time.

Sounds like none of the people convinced to go were even friends with her in the first place. Aside from that bride is in the right, its her wedding she has the right to pick whoever she wants as bridesmaids, if your not supportive of the relationship why would you even want to be a bridesmaid in the first place it explicitly goes against your stance on the relationship. Also convincing everyone else not to go is petty and pathetic.

yea i'm guessing there's a lot more to the story.

black and white with the 1 line context we got. the bride is right. now if we had more info and the guy is some douchebag than the ex friend is right.

Ex-friend was usually the alpha.

Bride and ex-friends have been together since middle school. They met their new group together, but seemed to follow ex-friends lead.

Bride stated it was the ex-friend and fiance that butted heads, but everyone else was cool.

It was during covid, so the plan was to just invite close friends and family. It was during wedding planning that the friends had a falling out. The bride tried to keep in touch with the remaining friends, but they slowly faded away. It's unknown if the ex-friend persuaded others not to speak to bride or if they just weren't as close with her as the bride thought.

Imagine being so entitled and petty that you convince your mutual friends not to go, just because you didn't get your way at someone else's wedding.

Bride is right and it sounds like she's better off without that toxic friend.

I feel bad for the bride because she's so sweet and non-confrontational, but when she finally stood up for her wedding, her best friend couldn't take it. Bride feels bad about it but she shouldn't have to. The friend just adding stress on top of all the planning.
