I dont think fortress Maximus debuted until after the movie, he was a headmaster.I think you are correct. It was just an Autobot base. Can't express how proud I am of that catch [LFAQs-redacted-quote] G2 was actually entertaining but the animation, toyline, and culture werent able to support it. Like the G1 series, it never quite reached the heights of its showstarter More Than Meets The Eye and The Movie are the best Transformers content out there. Then comes Beast Wars, Bay1, etc ... When Perceptor tells you he's dead, that's it.Phantom Prime He comes back as this like White(pink) Specter who is super evil until the magic used to resurrect him wears off. Something like that. It was like the final arc of G2, and then the Japanese picked it up IIRC. They did the same thing for Beast Wars. Apparently, we didn't finish the story! lol I think Scorponok was the final arc. ... ^This.
They called it Autobot City in Master Blaster's silky smooth voice, but I believe there was some confusion about Metroplex and some toys were sold of the Autobot Base labeled as Metroplex. Actually, lol The Autobots have the best bases. The Ark Prime's trailer Dang. ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's something I have mixed feelings about.
On one hand, John Wayne or Superman could not have asked for a better movie death. The hero defeats the villain before succumbing to his wounds. He dies surrounded by those he had led for so long and his last words are words of inspiration. On the other hand, it was an incredibly stupid / greedy decision to wipe out virtually the entire cast. The characters that the audiences had emotional connections to were gone and replaced by characters who could have never measured up even if they had been equal to their predecessors (which they weren't). Fortunately, no studio has repeated this folly. <_< ... Copied to Clipboard!

So here's something fun. Reading about Fortress Maximus and Metroplex and Autobot City, apparently the original storyboard for the movie called Autobot City Fortress Maximus and the comic version of the movie also calls it Fortress Maximus. However it appears that Autobot City and Metroplex really are treated interchangeably.
Incidently, I owned I think 3 copies of Metroplex. Always broke at the "waist" so you'd have top half and legs. Like I would find them at a goodwill/value village. I got 2 of them in box even. Looking back I wonder if those ones had been super glued back together or something. And my brother had / has a Fortress Maximus. Although he painted a lot of it, and not well. And our friend Raymond had Skorponoc. I would normally "main" either Superion or Devastor, depending if I was going good guy or bad guy. We had the most epic transformer wars. --- https://imgur.com/BVBQC The big wiggle equals ratings. ... Copied to Clipboard!
