Masayuki Uemura, the creator of the NES & SNES has passed away at 78. In honor of him post your favorite memories, games, or even music from NES & SNES.

I remember '95 getting a SNES along with DKC, SMW, SM All Stars, and the next Christmas receiving DKC 2.

My older half-brother telling me that there was a NES and a bunch of games hidden behind the screen of our old ass TV. it was one of those old TVs that are wood casings.

i was probably 5 or 6. I banged my head against it a few times before he told me to stop.

I dont really have specific favorite memories I just wanna say I grew up with these systems and I still think they're the best systems Nintendo ever made. If I list my 100 favorite games you'll find more from the nes/famicom than any other console.

*My brother and I walking around toys r us going through the game section...me being 12, and my brother 17 years old at the time. Shortly before school starting back up in august 1995.*

We were just walking around, talking about what some of our friends said about whatever new games we was looking at on the walls (back when toys r us did that slip thing where you take a slip with the picture of the game you wanted up to the desk so they can get it for you), and there it was....chrono trigger.

Mind you, neither of us knew what the fuck the game was about, and even the really cool box art did not ring any bells of the artist since neither of us knew what the fuck a dragonball was, let alone akira toriyama. We both really liked rpgs though, and we at least knew squaresoft's name was on the box, since final fantasy 3(6), secret of mana, and illusion of gaia really kicked ass. I guess my brother was feeling adventures with his then new fast food job money that point, because he was like "man lets check this out, it might be good".

Anywho, my bro buys it, we eventually get home, and I watched him fire chrono trigger up.....man what neither of us knew at the time was that this game was going to straight up consume our lives for a good month. (Got to remember, this is 1995, and while my bro did buy the game we was still a bit too cheap to buy a guide majority of the time, so we goin' in blind). God damn that has to be the second most memorable blind game purchase for either of us. Chrono trigger will always have that special place of being that one rpg that not only us but practically every 1 we knew was hooked to. (Of course some friends asked to mooch the game for a bit since that was what friends did back in those days).

(My number 1 favorite blind game purchase is phantasy star online on the dreamcast)

Can't beat the long Saturday afternoons spent doing 2-player SMB3 with my dad.

I also have really find memories of one bonfire night, where after watching the fireworks in our front driveway me and a couple of my buddies spent hours on Lemmings as we watched the various neighbours' fireworks going off outside my bedroom window.

Seeing that big ass Earthbound game box in a grocery store's rental place and begging to rent it. The thing that fascinated me the most was the ATM in the game. I just thought that was really cool.

First NES game was Felix the Cat. Still believe it's one of the best, and underrated platforms of all time. Ditto on Chip N' Dale. After the NES, it was all Genesis for me.

This isn't a "favorite," but it's funny now in retrospect. I was playing Mortal Kombat II and you had to do fifty straight battles to fight Noob Saibot or something, and was almost up to that amount. My cousin walked in and stepped on the power cord and unplugged it. I gave him what for and he ran out crying, lmao.

Next time I see him, I should see if he remembers that.

We got Mike Tysons Punch-Out when I was 6, and I have 3 memories about that game that really stand out:

1) I was/am the video game expert amongst my family and friends, but something about that game didnt click right away. Both my dad and my younger brother were able to beat Glass Joe before I did, and my brother still will (rightfully) give me crap about it to this day.

2) Not understanding how to beat Great Tigers teleport punch, and my dad showing me how to do it once he figured it out.

3) Telling other (older) kids at the bus stop that Id beaten Mike Tyson, and then not believing me because they thought it was impossible.

Also, I remember being allow to bring the NES with to a hotel once, and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world that I was playing Zelda in a hotel room.

Playing Tailspin from start to finish a bunch. And chip and Dale rescue rangers.

I mostly used my snes to play Gameboy games so that I didn't need batteries. I didn't have very many games for it and I didn't have it until I was 9 in 97 so it was already pretty dated at that point. I didn't have money for games and I don't think I ever really saw any of the iconic games. I mostly had licensed games like an ahh real monsters game.

If I'm being honest probably playing SNES games with my older brother when I was still too young to read. Then playing them with my neighbor when I was like 6-8 years old.
