The tech isn't there, we've done this shit before, and every science fiction that included this has been an allegory of warning. Why are techbros going all in on this? Don't even get me started on decentralization, it's a great way of forgetting that any digital noun needs a centralized interpretation layer to have meaning.

I work in technology, and end up getting a lot of crap coming across my google newsfeed about whatever anyone thinks is the new fad and wants to write articles about it. Every day there's a new article about the metaverse and the bullshit it brings. The worst part is I'm rage-reading because I need to be aware of this so I can shut it down if movers and shakers in my company try to get people to waste their time in that direction at my company.

Once you get so deep in the lingo of a space, you start to lose track of the world outside the bubble. In the quote above, it's like a bastardization of the adopted lingo from the libertarian cryptobros who want nothing but to decentralize the universe, and trying to keep a grip on the rest of the world.

Basically, it doesn't matter if your gacha character lives on blockchain or a central DB, it doesn't mean anything until it's interpreted by your game's server, and in that sense your ownership is still subject to the service provided by a central authority - decentralization is a myth in all but the most primitive concepts..
