1.18 came out not long ago, complete rework of ore generation and cave gen, as well as overworld gen.

I haven't seen a server topic on this board in years so I figured I'd ask.

i bought it early in the shutdowns. been playing it off and on, but i'm still pretty average with the 'craft' part. i can mine like a champ, though. =)

Yeah I feel that. I took a long hiatus so I forgot how to craft even the most basic things, like a bow and such. Minecraft wiki is awesome as a resource on how to craft stuff though so I've been hitting that up a lot, especially for the redstone stuff.

I followed a few tutorials and made a couple automatic bamboo farms that feed into furnaces, because coal seems to be rarer that kind of takes care of smelting for me.

no, i meant more like building houses and farms and such. i can get functional, so long as the redstone stuff isn't too arcane, but making it pretty has been... elusive.

edit: oh, ok. yeah, we're on the same page there.

Oh yeah, sometimes playing around on creative is a good way to get ideas for building. I followed some tutorials for houses in the past that kind of helped on that side of things a little bit. Depending on my mood I can get into either mining or building I think.

That's a while, I'm guessing it would be like a new game if you picked it up again by now with all of the updates.

I also ended up building 3 automatic bamboo farms that feed into furnaces. Island survival is kind of harder in 1.18 because coal generally generates at higher Y levels, so I rarely come across it.
