yeah, it sucks. but tbf, they're already giving out a week for free, so if it keeps up, they might push it to more and more weeks.

i was able to get on this morning around 4am, but since then the queue's been back up to 1000+.

yeah i dunno. i bought it on a whim back in april when it was on sale for like 20 bucks. played for a bit. then i didnt play it for months.

and then when i finally decide to bunker down and play, Endwalker releases and kills the servers lol.

square enix isnt a shitty company like blizzard who doesnt compensate for extended server issues

If this was a common thing, I'd be inclined to agree.

But it's only because of the expansion releasing, which only happens once every 2 years, compounded by Covid preventing them from having the resources to set up more Worlds, in a time where their player count had recently skyrocketed beyond what they imagined would happen.

It's pretty understandable.

everyone wants to play Endwalker but they dont have enough servers.

when i try to log in, i get put in a queue. right now its at 4000 people. this weekend, evening time, it was 8000. this morning at 7am it was 2000. i found that it gets through about 1000 people an hour

that is, if you dont get Error 2002 disconnected. which can happen at any point. it disconnects, closes out the game, and when you go back, guess where you are in the queue? right at the damn back.

yesterday i literally got down to like 100 people in the queue after waiting for 3 hours. guess what happened

My server has had a 7000+ queue every time I've tried to log in every day since launch. I gave up trying to log in, because I'm not going to get up at like 5AM to log in before work.

It'll be fine by this time next week, over half the players right now only activated their subs again to play through the story and after this the majority of them will log in for dailies at most. Plus there's all the people who only got it to finish the story and they'll be gone until 6.1 drops. And I figure the WOW refugees will slow down pretty soon, as the number of streamers who aren't dedicated FFXIV ones move on.

It's always like this at launch of a new expansion, tbh it's still nowhere near as bad as Stormblood was.

2002 error only happens if there's over 17,000 people in queue for your data center, and there were things done to address that so nobody should get it again. That's part of why they needed the quick maintenance last night. And they have something else they're going to implement for stabilizing stuff during the upcoming maintenance.
