This is a bold statement and yes it takes months to beat the story now, but it is also true.

Well I would wait and see your answer but it will be awhile.

ARR is important for later on but isn't a good gauge of how good the story gets later.

ARR is lower than other FF.

But again, essential foundation.

7 > 10 > Tactics > 9 > XIV > 8 > da rest

Thats fine I plan on playing the entire story until the end of endwalker and beyond

MMOs aren't real FF games anyway.

The story, yeah, but it benefits from its longevity. Also the dialogue isn't generic shonen-style writing, which does set it apar from most of the others.

I wouldn't say I quit, the last time I played was probably two weeks ago. But I have yet to see what all the rave is about it

Doesn't change that they're mistitled spinoffs.

It's definitely the best FF in the last 15 years.

Don't know if it's fair to compare an MMO to the others, but yeah it's my fave FF game.

Agreed. Loved my time with the game and the story is just....seriously you're doing yourself a disservice if you call yourself an RPG fan and miss this out because it's an MMO.

I finally quit WoW and made the move two days ago. I'm only level 14, but already the story is reminding me of why I love story based games so much. Mysterious crystals, shadowy figures roaming about, the implication that there's something special about my character, endearing side characters showing up every so often...

It's really refreshing to play a game like this after the industry trend seemed to be to put less and less focus on story and more focus on shitty open worlds.

Back in the early days it was well worth playing. The experience has degraded horribly over the past decade or so, though. I can't in good conscience recommend it to anybody anymore.

Story wise, it's the best since X.

I hate MMOs, though, so it was a struggle to tolerate the gameplay in order to experience the story.
