You can straight up remove Ben Stiller's character and it would be a significantly better movie.

His characters reality must really bite then.

He directed it too. It's a movie about a bunch of post-grad friends. The characters are actually really likable and I enjoyed the actors chemistry with one another.
But after the first 15-20 minutes, that gets thrown in the backseat in favor of this dumbass love triangle with Ben Stiller's character.

The whole time I was watching, I'm like, "Why do I get the feeling that there was initially suppose to be more focus on these friends"? I looked up and turns out, that was actually the case. Ben Stiller was the one that made the decision to push the more interesting friend characters in the background and put the love triangle involving his character center stage.

He ruined this movie in more ways than one. He better be lucky that he directed Tropic Thunder because otherwise, it would be my duty to push him down an up escalator. (I'm kidding, of course...I would suplex him down there).

let's not get the timeline confused and pretend like ben stiller was a well-liked comedian in the 90's. the movies he was behind (cable guy) and the comedy that he was portraying was rude and not very funny.

it wasn't until "something about mary" that everything starting flipping over for him, even despite 'mystery men' ruining it further. meet the parents and zoolander pretty much grounded him for the rest of his success, though.

Honestly, I think most of his stuff isn't good. He gets lucky every once in a while.
