at the end of the phantom menace darth maul supposedly dies, right? But didn't he survive? cause in the movie Solo he shows up in a video clip in the end. But he was cut in half?.........

Yes, he was supposed to die.
However later they brought him back. He grabbed onto one of the trash shafts and was taken to a landfill planet, where he recovered. Solo takes places long after, by which point he's done a lot. --- "It lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge" ... Copied to Clipboard!

I haven't watched the Clone Wars series myself, but I believe Darth Maul's survival story is explained there, and he plays a pretty big role in the show (and his brother), and he has mechanical legs. Besides the Solo cameo though, he hasn't appeared in any other movies. He was always meant to stay dead in George Lucas's stories, but they brought him back in the show as a popular character that wouldn't have an impact in the main canon. He was well received in Clone Wars (they gave him a lot more personality and back story), so they threw him into Solo.
Maybe he will have a role in the Mandalorian TV universe though --- Hello world! ... Copied to Clipboard!
