Maybe I shouldn't have included SSBU, but I was having a hard time thinking of something that could effectively be enough on their level to challenge them. It may beat MGS3 with certainty but not FFX or Witcher 3. People act as if Smash Ultimate is suddenly gonna get peak Melee or Brawl strength. ~~It's not.~~ Smash struggled to beat God of War in the GotY poll and Smash is hottest during its hype and few months post-release season. Also it got absolutely murdered by BotW (SFF and whatever) in GotD2. Its only somewhat impressive performance was against Odyssey and we have no idea where Odyssey stands in the Mario hierarchy. It likely falls a tier behind SMW, 64 and 3 and may be slightly ahead of the two Galaxies.
