Homecoming: whole thing is Peter trying to impress Iron Man
Far From Home: whole thing is Peter trying to live up to Iron Man
No Way Home: Doctor Strange is as big on the poster as Peter is and in a ton of the marketing, also this movie is ALSO riding the coattails of the excellent Sam Raimi movies in addition to the MCU

I'm sick of all the moving parts in MCU movies, just let a character's story stand on their own

Sony's idea. They wanted MCU involvement. I doubt Dr Strange is a mentor or anything, probably more a plot device to open multiverse and tell Peter the objective

We already had 5 solo Spidey films. Nothing wrong with them changing things up and utilizing the character's long history of team-ups for a few.

I would say it was a "mutual agreement," emphasis quotation marks.

Sony needed the MCU to stay afloat. Disney wanted to show their heroes were better than Spider-Man. Sony said they were okay with Spider-Man being second fiddle.

I'm sure it hurts Sony more having to scrape to Disney than it does what Disney is doing with their properties. Once this "Home" series has wrapped, Sony will still be able to market solo Spider-Man movies and presumably draw at the box office. But I can't imagine they're honestly okay with Spider-Man being a sidekick of Iron Man and Dr. Strange respectively.

There is nothing that indicates strange will be a lead, he probably has less screentime than aunt may. He's just there to open the multiverse which gets you your fanservice

It doesn't matter. Dr Strange is just as big as Spider-Man on the poster, he's an even more powerful being who sets the story in motion, and Spider-Man is wearing an Iron Man inspired armor. He's still a spinoff character. He's still an appendage or accessory to the main heroes.

Tired of this stupid take. Spidey has always put certain heroes on pedestals and he has frequently teamed up with other heroes. This is nothing new, has never been new.

Just can't satisfy everyone it seems. When the Marvel movies were blowing up back then we wanted them to all join up some way some how and now there's a way for them to do it but some people can't help but complain.

A lot of people see as spider being the center of the mcu now that Ironman is gone. So now its likee Disney and Sony need each other. Apparently they wanted captain marvel to be the face of it, but that didnt work out. Spider-Mans popularity just took over and people didnt really end up like captain marvel

the movie made a lot of money, and if I recall captain marvel was popular, while at the same time not being popular.

And lot of people loved and hated her. Correct me if Im wrong though

I kind of agree. Like I love the overall MCU, I think its great that theyve been able to intertwine all these characters and stories into a 10+ year ongoing story.

But at the same time, as it grows, future installments just become more dependent on what came before. I kind of like the simplicity of a character having their own movies. Ive been rewatching the older Spider-Man movies and was just thinking this actually.

I also feel like its more accessible to newcomers that way too. MCU Spideys first appearance was in a Captain America movie. Which was like the fourteenth movie in the overall saga. And if you see Spider-Man Homecoming without seeing anything else, its not gonna make much sense.
