is it about bugs or drugs

Unfortunately for you, neither.

About a group of high school girls on a soccer team who crash land, apparently at some point turn to cannibalism (not a spoiler, set up as the premise in the first episode).

Kinda takes a Lost format, flashing back and forth between the past during the crash, and the present as adults.

I'm pretty sure the dude Shauna is sleeping with is Javier, the little bro from the crash

Watched most of the first episode, I was surprised how good it was even though I shouldnt be given how consistent Showtime tends to be in terms of quality.

But then why wouldn't he remember? I mean, he was old enough at the time. I'd be happy with that storyline if it went no deeper than it's just Shauna's way of reliving the past, given her decaying marriage, tbh.

What do you think is up with the symbols already being carved into the trees? I have a feeling that one of them is just going to create a mythology around it to get the cult going (seemed to me that the one legged coach dude was too excited watching Shauna slice the deer's throat in the most recent episode...), rather than something existing that they'll get involved with.

I think he knows who she is and liked her as a kid and still likes her now. He was so flirtatious from the start and I honestly thought it was a little weird, especially since he's way hotter than she is.

I think the symbol is meant for us to think that someone or "something":is watching them--it seems almost supernatural with the political chick's son acting all weird and seeing someone watching him. But you're right that it seems like they create some sort of mythology--it's pretty much a girl version of Lord of the Flies...
