Just because the Switch has a rewind feature doesn't mean it isn't cheating. Beat your NES/SNES games legitimately.

Oh so we're looking for stupid takes? Sure let me help.

If you didn't beat the game on the first week of release, you didn't beat the game and you cheated.

If you didn't beat it between the ages of 4-7, you cheated and didn't beat the game.

You still beat it, but you beat it using save states and rewinding.

It's a different category. It's a really soft example of a "tool assisted" run, which is when you use programs outside of the original game to give yourself an advantage. Speedrunners usually do tool-assisted runs to figure out 100% optimal timings and pathing to get the absolute best conceivable time in any given game...but that's another situation where every input is programmed in.

Just using save states and rewinds is still a different category than a 'real' playthrough, though, since the game was designed with certain resource limitations (lives, ammo, powerups) that you circumvent by loading states or rewinding mistakes.

So...it's kinda 50/50. You played and beat the game, but you didn't do it as intended.
