I live on Chicago's Lower West Side. I now have 2 air purifiers going and I open the door regularly. Carbon monoxide detector does not go off when the air puts me to sleep. This along with burning eyes and burning throat leads me to the conclusion it is laughing gas and nitrogen dioxide.

This morning was warm and sunny so I sat out in the sun in my t-shirt (and jeans and shoes). This stuff is not coming from outside the building.

Where then?

From the sewers and cheapskate landlord only needs to put/replace valves on drains?

From some resident running a shop in his home? Photography perhaps?

Some rando coming into the basement and dumping stuff?

Either way I am screwed but the 2 air purifiers do help.

I thought. Carbon monoxide but levels high enough I had to stand outside to wake up and no detection so not CO.

I thought Hydrogen Sulfide but nitrogen pollution makes you sleepy is more common in Chicago and covers the burning throat and eyes better. The nitrogen compounds dissolve in the moisture of throat and eyes. Just trace amount of Nitrous Acid.

I investigate and reformulate. "Consistency is the invention of little minds."

Because it is so difficult to get long covid? Because I am going to inconvenience/endanger myself to verify I have long covid? Because what? There is prescription?
