Back den, dat thought didn't even cross my mind at all even through high school. I hate how students have to fear dis now, and especially dose kids who go home to a shitty family ;(

my HS had a bomb threat every year and several gun threats a year, it had security gates that separated hallways to better lock down the building and every guard had a metal detector wand that they used to randomly check people. hell i can think of at least 4 different times they put the building into lockdown for hours, searched every locker, and even brought in the gun sniffing dogs to check students.

so yeah, fear of a shooting at school was a thing for me.

Only ones that happened when I was still in school (that I can remember) were Columbine and V Tech. There wasn't a new mass school shooting damn near every week back then, so the thought never even crossed my mind during school. It's sad that it does for kids now.

not til I got to high school. As a kid, I never even comprehended a school shooting until columbine happened. I was in the middle of high school then. And yes, it did fuck with me. I remember thinking if someone was about to shoot me sometimes when I was walking the school

I went to HS in a fairly sleepy suburban Canadian town so it was never a big concern

No. They weren't common when I was in high school. Several of my classmates actually joked that I was going to shoot up the school because I was quiet and never got angry. I don't think anyone worried about it actually happening.

there was this one kid that obviously seemed to have some mental health issues and a rough home life that everyone used to pick on because they so easily got a meltdown reaction out of him. Like his entire face would turn bright red in anger. I thought for certain he was going to shoot up the school one day.

Nope. Makes me sad to see the state of the US today. Feels like Im going to have to buy my daughter body armor if I ever move back.

Maybe a little bit after Columbine but it was never a panic inducing fear.

Wasn't a concern in my high school. One time this dumbass tried coming to school with his dad's shotgun, several members of the football team didn't care about the gun and went and pinned him down until cops came.

I was fortunate it wasn't common when I was in school so we didn't have to worry about it. However I heard like a year after I graduated, the school went crazy and had like metal detectors, cameras, practice drills and all that jazz.

Not really. This biggest one that happened in my grade school days was Columbine when I was in 7th grade.

But I do remember there being several bomb scares and we had to exit the building and get it cleared by the the officials. To this day (22 years later), I remember one the teachers saying that us kids were being shuffled out of the school because someone found a note saying "boom boom boom at noon."

At my high school, I remember 3-4 kids being expelled for threatening to shoot up the school. Another kid was arrested for having a gun in the student parking lot. We had a few bomb threats, too. So yeah, there was fear of a school shooting. Bullying was rampant but the school officials only cared if the football and basketball team won state.

I was not because that wasn't really something that happened back in my days at school.
