when it comes to handguns michigan already has a lot of what youd want. registration, purchase permits, ubc's and its laws are convoluted enough that its hard to carry in most places without a cpl.

That's something that's pretty much impossible to change without like fifty years of legislation and cultural attitude shifts, so focusing on trying to fix whatever mental health issues kids are having is going to be a much better way to try to mitigate this shit. Remove guns right at this moment and you can still have stabbings, bombings, etc. Guns are just a very convenient tool that requires relatively low competence for a fairly fight body count. The bigger problem is why we have such a high per capita situation with kids who think this is the only way to solve their issues.

Allegedly (we dont have confirmation), this is a video of the shooter trying to enter a class by saying hes a cop. He says just open the door and look at my badge, bro which is a huge red flag. Im glad the teacher didnt open the door then (the students left via a window):

doors leading outside would be dangerous because anyone could come in unless theyre locked all the time, which would mean someone has to check every single lock after every class to make sure no kid opened one.

and doors between classrooms would have to stay locked as well, or a shooter could just get in one room and then go through all of them

i have no doubt there will be "not enough", but michigan DOES have more restrictive handgun laws than most of the country. UBC's, registration, purchase permits and their carry laws make it annoying for those without a cpl.
