Oh yeah. Curious how she'll play on console, since some really precise killers are a lot easier on pc. I'm a filthy Xbox player, just because my friends started on there and I'm too invested at this point to ever move lol

One of the worst communities in gaming history. I think I'm like devotion rank 3 and almost every game you'll get a message from some sweatlord talking shit. It's like dude calm down, it's just a game. Game's been in the trash for like 7 months and never looked back.

I claim every free game I'm offered. Even if I'll never play it. It's free. Why wouldn't I?

unlucky...

i play on pc so idk what the diff is but i rarely have anything bad in the post game chat. i never initiate mean comments but i'll drop an "lol" if someone gets caught with their pants down. People have definitely said something like "you better hope you're using a vpn because i'm coming to kill you" which was pretty awkward but it's very infrequent for me

The game is a lot of fun if played casually for a few hours here and there, especially with friends. However, this is one of the worst projects out there currently to make your "main" go-to title. It has far, far too many issues, from balancing to the community, and extremely uncaring devs.
The game has no anticheat. At all. Hackers are running rampant, and most are using cheats that are barely noticeable, like wallhacks and tiny speedboosts. The people behind the cheats are reporting around 10% of the PC playerbase use some form of cheats. The gazillions of F2P accounts from EGS will only make it worse.
There are exploits that have been present since the game's release and aren't being fixed. In a sense, they are like official cheats
The devs are completely incompetent. Do you want your IP leaked and get DDOS'd? Because you can, and the studio won't even care to warn you. Famous streamers were getting hit with DDOS attacks for a week just a while ago. Not just one or two. All of them.
And this isn't a one-time issue. Every single update breaks something. Two updates ago console couldn't play the game because of massive performance issues. Three updates ago there were major desync issues. It takes devs ~a month to fix them every time, and by then a new update is on the way.
The balancing is a disaster. This leads to a lot of frustration as a newbie survivor or a veteran killer. Playing the game in any way other than extremely casual treating it like a party game for a few hours is extremely anti-fun.
At the end of the day, you should probably try it out and form your own opinion. But do remember that if you decide to play it "seriously" and not just casually here and there, you will end up regretting the decision. It's not a coincidence that there is so much negativity surrounding the game, and even in this thread people are mostly bashing on it.

tbh i agree with them somewhat except the last few remarks... the game isn't serious at all, there is no competitive mode whatsoever (the ranking mode is well known for being absolutely busted and it doesn't mean anything -- you can get to the highest rank just by playing).

You can play it casually without issue, not just "here and there". I've put in about 1200 hours this year and am still having fun. The balance issues are kind of whatever. I think they vastly overstate how big of a deal some of those things are. I rarely get mean people, hackers, etc in my games. I just goof off with friends.

I do think SBMM has kinda ruined a lot of the game's fun tbh. It's getting better, but everything is so damn sweaty when facing down SWFs, and other survivors in solo queue are often even more useless.

Artist seems really strong. Played 4 games so far, 1 was against a sweaty SWF that came with flashlights to burn the birds and I got 0k, but the other 3 have all been pretty easy 4ks.

Pretty much my thoughts. I play casually solo and still love the game. It has it's flaws, but if you don't take the game too seriously and dedicate all of your lifeblood in this one game, it's still a fun time.

I've had this game on steam forever, stopped keeping up with it around when michael myers came out. But back then I couldn't find a game without sitting around for like 20 minutes. guessing its blown up since then?

I played from launch till like a year or so ago. Got tired of them not fixing things that are still broken from like four years ago. The balance in favor of the survivors is also absurd. The killer is supposed to be the power role but that isn't the case

lobbies are pretty quick depending on when you play. I'd say 3-9 pm central time survivor lobbies are pretty much instant, after that killer lobbies are.

Also depends on when new stuff comes out or if events are going on.

it's only in favor of survivors that are playing together on comms

It's really not. I play both sides, but killer is my priority, and a team of randoms is nowhere near the level of a sweaty swf. Sure, you can get unlucky and get a group of great randoms who happen to all work well together, but that's rare.

The ranks in dbd aren't a real metric of how good you are at the game, you can get to rank 1 killer in less than 10 hours of playing because the game is very easy for killers going against solo queue survivors
