If you're in an area with a ton of white noise then yes. Car and plane rides you'll absolutely notice a difference.

yes it makes a huge difference. I have some fairly cheap ones and just that effect alone is enough to make things more relaxing. even if the cheap ones don't make things completely silent, it softens everything and is just instantly relief if you're looking for peace.

more expensive ones are better still and block a ton of sound. (testing some expensive ones is what convinced me to buy some cheap ones. the cheap ones still let a lot of sound through but it's all softened. the expensive ones only seemed to let the loudest and lowest-frequency sounds through, like if you bang your hand on the table you can hear it faintly.)

It absolutely makes a huge difference. Much better than passive noise cancelling. If you're sitting at home you might not notice but definitely noises like trains, buses and even (to a certain point) crowd noises will be reduced dramatically. I've only had experience with the Sony headphones and in-ear's recently though.

Depends on the location. It makes a huge difference when I'm working in the data center where there's a lot of white noise. Outdoors or situations with people talking, dogs barking, music, or traffic (horns and such), it won't have much of an effect at all.

Just for the fact that all you hear is what you're supposed to hear really helps audio quality

Just seems like you are expecting people to have the opposite view point based on your posts in this topic. 6 different posters are telling you there is a huge difference with noise cancelling in certain environments. Have you tried being in an area with a lot of white noise and then using the noise cancelling?

Also earbuds aren't going to give you the full effect compared to headphones.

They probably don't have demos set up anymore to test for yourself but I've worn mine in stores and stuff and it blocks nearly everything. It should sounds like that moment when the power goes out and all the electrical and ambient noise is gone minus the people freaking out about losing power. Maybe you have a bad pair or they don't fit right or not turned on or something.

Yeah for sure. We've got some extremely inconsiderate neighbors who drive their loud ass PoS cars at all hours of day and night, or set off fireworks throughout most of the summer for no goddamn reason. It's one of the best and most practical things I've bought my daughter to help block out the noise, since everything echoes out here and her room faces the street.
