Are you worried about getting something back that's been screwed with?

no, I don't think people really do that

especially over something as minor as just sending food back

What's it like living in Candy Land?

Depends on how the person presents themselves. If youbact like the lady from waiting, waiting really does happen. Take it from someone who worked with kitchen workers. If you are polite about it no issues.

As common as people make this out to be, even when I worked in a shitty place no one would actually think of doing this.

Being fired, fined and potential jail time ain't worth it. Plus, most people are used to shitty customers so you'd have no time to actually work if you spent time on "revenge" like this.

no, but from experience in kitchens, the correction in the kitchen is typically nothing you'd be happy about.

Typically goes something like this:
Wait staff: "Table 9 found a hair in their pasta"
Kitchen staff: "Ok, pull the hair out, nuke it for 20 seconds and replate it"

"Table 13 said we forgot their strip steak. I need a midwell strip wearing onion rings on the fly"
Kitchen staff proceeds to put grill marks in the steak, nuke it to temp, and throw some old onion rings on the plate.

Depends where you are and how you handle it.

That said I worked in restaurants and bars for about 10 years. I only saw someone fuck with someone's food once. And the guy who did it was just kind of an all around garbage person.

This is not something that typically happens

I don't think many cooks are willing to get caught committing a felony just to spite some random customer.

I mean, I'm sure some are, but they're pretty rare.

As a former cook no it's not risky. Most of the time we didn't care. Even if someone was a dick we'd just cut corners to get it out faster.

A lot of it was the service staff and the cooking staff busting each others balls about who messed up the order in the first place.

Yes, usually only the unsavory type of people. Depends what kind of person the waiter(ess) is. And if they know someone in the kitchen really well. I personally never handled food as i wasnt a kitchen worker.
