excellent game. but i feel like my caveman brain cant piece together everything that happened

so basically morimura the original caused the extinction of humanity, but her memories+personality got uploaded into project arc, where she then inhabited chihirus body and began her plan to position herself as leader of the new human race
shinonome is a doomer and sabotages project ark, implanting the the deimos code in an attempt to guarantee humanity doesn't continue
millions of years later, the ark reaches new earth, builds the pods, and begins incubating the 15 MCs
everything ingame is a simulation, corrupted by the deimos code
after various loops, some people eventually figure out how to use sector 0 to save themselves from the deimos before a loop, leading to the events of the game

What I don't understand is why Morimura is trying to sabotage everyone before Gouto convinced her not to. Nor why this was their last chance to defeat the kaiju.

Prof. Morimura didn't know it was the final cycle and the reason she wanted to control the simulation was she thought she could stop people from turning on each other like the ark survivors did.

The reason its the final loop is sector 0 has a hard number of resets it can ever do. Eventually if you copy a file enough times it corrupts.

Did you get 100% completion and go back into the file viewer? There's a new one that appears that has one final twist.

I dunno about trophies, but I did see the the infinite possibilities scene at the end where theres another galaxy with pompadour being with natsuno. Fun addition. Or maybe not so fun >.>

I tried one of the extra stages and beat it as well but nothing really happened. Is there anything you get for doing them all? If its just a trophy or nothing I wont bother

I dont know anything about aegis rim but pacific rim was ok imo

Meh it had promise but felt like in the end they were just trying to have as many ploy twists as possible for the sake of it.

Any other games where the final mission is like Aegis Rim? Just a defence mission, but extremely hectic and a desperate fight for survival

The extra stages don't give you anything, they're just more combat missions for folks who enjoyed them.

Yeah that's the bonus thing, with the implication that thousands of arks were actually sent out so the scenarios you saw playing out on just one ark have happened on the others as well but with obviously different relationships and outcomes.

It was just the one arc but it infinitely self replicated. Most of Prof. Takamiya's logs were about how they prioritized replication by mining asteroids.

Wing Commander 3 if you get the bad ending. Same with Halo Reach IIRC.

I always finish a game then go to YouTube and watch the true end
