Albarn spoke with Apple Music recently and said that the streaming service is working on a film based on the group and characters he created with Jamie Hewlett, noting that writing sessions have already taken place. Were making a full-length Gorillaz film with Netflix, Albarn said (per CS.net. Were having a writing session in Malibu this afternoon. Its really exciting to do that. Its something weve been wanting to do for a very long time. Its been through so many incarnations. Created in 1998, Gorillaz is an English virtual band known for their real-life hits Clint Eastwood, Feel Good Inc., and more. The band consists of the characters Noodle (vocals, guitar, and keyboards), 2-D (vocals and keyboards) Murdoc Niccals (bass) and Russel Hobbs (drums), and has a full fictional universe built around them.
