HBO Max appears to have taken the R out of Birds of Prey, with the censored TV edit replacing the theatrical cut on the service. As ComicBook.com originally reported, the DCEU film is now showing its TV edit when you select the film, which starts with a disclaimed that the film has been edited for content.

It may be an error of some kind, as the film is still listed as R on its landing page and the rating information that pops up when you press play lists it as R for the MPAAs official reasons of suggestive dialogue, language, and violence. However, when playing the film, it does have some clear censoring done such as Montoya (Rosie Perez)s very NSFW T-shirt having a sexual word being removed.

The censoring comes a year after Netflix accidentally used the TV edit of Back to the Future, which that films writer Bob Gale told THR was the result of Universal giving Netflix an edited version. He noted at the time. I learned about it some 10 days ago from an eagle-eyed fan, and had the studio rectify the error. The version now running is the uncensored, unedited, original version.
