Thinking about getting this game... but I usually stick to pretty casual JRPGs when I play them.

Persona is a good gateway into SMT. Just don't go in expecting it to be Persona

If you're fine with minimalist story and a strong, "open-world" dungeon crawler. It's more gameplay-focused than even prior entries in the series, with more effort prioritized on exploration.

It's been the most balanced entry I've experienced so far, with multiple viable strats for building your character and demon entourage.

There are occasional frame dips while exploring, but it hasn't personally affected my experience. Battles remain smooth -- You can skip the initial animations of your attacks, which is fast enough, but I wish it could skip the pause after damaging the enemy as well.

I thought it was the other way around.

Breath of Fire > SMT > Persona > Anime body pillow

Hmm. What's there to find out in the world or in the dungeons? Is the prime motivator for moving forward exploration or gaining power?
