You can always bet on Nintendo to make stupid decisions when it comes to anything on the internet. Do they think free music online somehow hurts game sales?

I don't understand why official channels don't upload music and monetize it. Soundtrack videos get millions of views.

smash brothers is already a legal nightmare and you want them to throw in a whole legal debate about using the rights to others franchises music in other mediums

I seriously don't get how they still have this insanely loyal fanbase with how they've been screwing them from every direction.

I mean it probably has more to do with the facts they dont have the rights to the music online. Smash was made with a bunch of begging and favors

There's literally a feature to play the game soundtrack in the game so yes.

They can also just copyright ID the video and claim revenue, if any. They don't even need to upload it themselves. Or just ignore it and enjoy the free advertising.

Melee fans aren't all too loyal to the Big N with how they've treated the tournament scene.

Yes, I always buy $60 games plus DLC to carry around a whole Nintendo switch as a music player.
If that's seriously the take of a company executive they should not be in charge of any financial decision. Putting music on the interwebs is going to drive sales, not lower them, and the decisions made to buy a game are vastly different than the ones made to load up a music playlist on youtube.

so are you just going to ignore my post ? I pretty much explained it, those decisions likely arent Nintendos to make alone, or even at all.

when its a collaborative effort between multiple million dollar franchises shit gets messy and arguing over YouTube splits would just prolong the legal aspect

The solution to that is simple: ignore it. And that's, by far, the best solution.
They could also have videos completely demonitized or just remove certain ones. They do own the rights to many of the songs in Smash and companies they've partnered with don't seem to have the same copyright issues.

if it was just Nintendo thats pretty easy, but its not just Nintendo, you think Disney is just let them ignore shit.

With super collabs like this if the obvious thing didnt happen, its because no one could agree on a contract that allowed it.

Yeah, while Nintendo are no strangers to stupid decisions when it comes to the online community, for once this is probably fair as there are so many different right-holders in this soundtrack that it's not worth the "who own what" headache.
