If they don't like the job because they can go elsewhere.

The owner of a liquor store in Fort Collins, Colorado, said the labor market in the US is so competitive that retaining workers is almost an impossible task.

In an interview with local news site Coloradoan, Wilburs Total Beverage owner Mat Dinsmore said that new candidates are skipping interviews or quitting after one shift if they decide they dont like it. They only need to walk up main street and they can find a new job on their lunch break, he said.

But seriously, is this not the employers fault if your employees keep quitting?

I think to maintain unemployment benefits you have to show that you're trying or something like that. So people apply for interviews and never pick up the phone when they get called. One of my friends is looking for some medical assistants for his clinic, he said 3 of every 4 people that apply don't even pick up the phone.

It doesn't fit the narrative that they are disgruntled workers. Why apply if you don't even want the interview. Seems like the same thing is happening here. People just trying to milk unemployment benefits. Its time we minimize that.

The "small business can't afford to pay their workers more" mantra is the biggest lie going. These people CLEAR 6 figures a year. Look at the cars these convenience store owners drive. I used to work for a small businesses that barely did 500k in sales a year, the owner drove a $90,000 SUV and lived in a 5000 square foot house (tho, he actually paid me quite well for what the position was, but the point is, he wasn't broke).

It's more like "small business can't afford to pay their workers more because that means the business owner will be forced to take less, but still well over triple what his employees make."

There are far more job openings than unemployed people. Even if every unemployed person filled one of those openings, there would still be a million openings. People just aren't taking low-paying jobs.

If it is not worth it a person will quit. Employers typically try to extort their employees as much as possible. Looks like they are either going to have to pay more money and offer more incentives or pick up the slack themselves.

Heh, went I got home and checked my FB, I found this post from a local author.
I post it here, just with the location redacted.

Shop Rite

Since I gave my trusted valet, Finial, and his termagant wife, Margaret Mary Siobhan, this evening and tomorrow off, I was forced to make my way to * Liquor Emporium, Saratoga Springs, alone - a first.

What a scrum! Ive seen piranha in the scummy waters of Brazil behaving more civilly.

One chap even had the temerity to walk by and not say Excuse Me, My Good Man.

No wonder America is such a wretched place; its full of a varlets and churls.

Too much vile California plonk from the look of it.

Im putting the long-suffering staff of * in for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Well most people apply to a ton of jobs but they shortlist it to few they want to work with. Like I do research on sites like Glassdoor and read reviews and check salaries

I dont think people arent answering to get unemployment. I think theyre not answering because theres a ton of spam and telemarketer calls everyday.

If employers were smart they would just text to schedule interviews. Thats the era were in. You have to appeal to the demographic.

Nah, Im being jokingly serious.

Businesses tell employees that they should get a better job if they dont like the pay, then complain when employees do.

Thats capitalism.
