("Right-wing" in quotes because they're not nearly as far right as Americans might expect "right-wing" to be.)

They've been on pretty shaky ground for a while now - to the point where the largest minor right-wing party replacing them is actually looking like a realistic possibility, after years of that party generally scoring around 1% of the vote (they're now polling at close to 20%).

A lot of this has been attributed to their current leader. There's been rumors flying around that one of the previous leaders was poised to challenge her to take back the leadership, and out of the blue yesterday the previous leader in question was suddenly suspended and stripped of his portfolios on the grounds of an inappropriate comment made 5 years ago (from the rumors of what this comment was, it's definitely inappropriate for the workplace but nowhere near "make a big public drama over it 5 years later" level of serious). Now apparently they're holding an urgent meeting to discuss their response to the leader doing this, and there's claims that multiple others (including the guy in question) are planning to challenge her today for it.

This is gonna be fun to watch.
