I was checking out the recently released videos for music cause sometimes I find cool music.

I have never ONCE played any of those three songs that Youtube is claiming that I "started" by that red bar. I've noticed it a lot lately when looking at their new music videos.

Those creators are probably paying Youtube to do that.

I'd assume if someone else has access to my account I would notice it way more in my history.

Like if I go through my history of videos in the last 5 days, Christina Aguilera's video is not in my watch history.

My guess is that when you "preview" a video by moving your cursor over it--or having it in focus on the mobile version--it counts as you viewing it.

Compromised.

I was going through my youtube comments I've made, and I found one from years ago I know I did not make. But it was isolated. Maybe it was a family member or friend using my device I don't remember.

It does. Then theres auto play next video etc. could be a lot of ways a video gets viewed.

Im subbed to a content creator though that claims YouTube is deleting their comments (positive complimentary ones) on other videos which is interesting.

I can confirm that the app definitely does this even if the preview only plays for a few seconds
