I think people are so starved for continuity in cartoons that any show that has it is immediately put on a pedestal.

I think it wasted too much time on slice of life stuff, but it was good. The whole mystery thing was probably a better hook when there were active communities trying to figures stuff out.

Yeah, I'm sure I lost a bit just because various internet memes made me aware of Bill and Ford, but I feel like those weren't particularly mind-blowing revelations regardless.

I feel like it's animated Fringe. A bunch of seemingly unrelated episodes about weird things that end up being connected to a much larger thread. I love that kind of storytelling.

you may want to watch Over The Garden Wall, which is 10 episodes long and due to its length it doesn't really go on tangents. It's easily one of the best series from the 2010s
