I finally got around to watching it and the worst thing I can say about it is that it's an average MCU movie. I did know Taskmaster was a woman beforehand though, so the twist was pretty obvious. I can see that pissing people off.

story felt bleh, not enough espionage action and the effects were ass...

Negative options always get shouted more than positive ones, and with the social media that just makes it louder.

Okay, it was kind of funny when Dreykov was talking about secretly controlling the world with his army of secret Widows when earlier in the movie they just openly drive a tank through Budapest with a dozen women in obvious military gear.

I think it just didn't have the hype behind it as the rest of the movies before Infinity War and Endgame.

I legitimately liked it better than Captain Marvel and it's girl-power moments were actually bad ass.

Should have been a Black Widow and Hawkeye team up movie, or just made a Black Widow mini series for Disney. I didn't have much faith in the character being a big success, a Ruffalo Hulk movie would do a lot better.

I liked it well enough, but most Marvel movies at this point have been getting better or started at least trying new things. This one was just pretty typical all around. Also, because of where it takes place in the timeline, the stakes don't really seem that high.

I agree that this storyline would have worked way better as a series. It felt pretty busy with a shitload of action scenes, it could have stood to slow down a bit.

Scarjo doing Blackwidow isn't really compelling enough for me imo. Florence Pugh did really well though.

It kind if teased everyone with the first 10 mins that it was going to be a spy sort of action film, asking to Bourne, but then just fell right back into step with with usual Marvel routine. It was just so bland.

One of the reasons I never liked ScarJo as BW is because she's got so little charisma in the role (not elsewhere, just as BW). She's boring to watch compared to everyone else in the MCU because she doesn't have much of a personality, and when they gave her her own movie she was completely outshone by Florence Pugh and David Harbour.

Also, they kept hinting at what would have been a much, much better movie with the whole Budapest mission stuff. Her and Hawkeye fighting there way out would have been way better compared to what we got.
