In middle school I read Rising Sun and did a book report and presentation on it. My teacher stopped my presentation 15 seconds in when I mentioned "strangled prostitute".

I got an A, but the teacher said that I had to run my books by her for future reports because that was not appropriate for sixth graders.

None. It was mostly just poster board with various plot details on it.

But my parents stance on books was that as long as I was reading, they didn't care what it was. I read Jurassic Park in fourth grade and had been on a Crichton kick for awhile after that.
