Depends on the person. Those close to them would have a fairly good understanding of what theyd want. But it should be done right. Take Tupac for example. Until the End of Time was a great album put together after his death.then they had those two or so albums that Eminem produced for some fuckin reason and completely ruined his music.

Boo hoo. If everyone is aware of what material is from the original creator and what isn't, then it shouldn't matter because everyone can choose whether they want to accept the continuation as valid or not for themselves.

is a good point. But still, idk. I feel a creator should have control over a setting or story they create. I don't like the idea of someone creating a work and then anyone being able to do what they want with it. But that can happen anyway, it's just about whether or not it's being "sold". Myeh.

Depends on how the artist felt-- sometimes they want others to finish their work, such as how Jordan left behind a ton of stuff so that Sanderson could finish the Wheel of Time.

A big part of this though was probably also because Jordan's wife was also his editor. You don't usually see something like that. Especially not with a massive sprawling fantasy world involving over a dozen books and hundreds of characters. It probably would have turned out much different if they hadnt been married or if he had had multiple editors. It also helped that Sanderson was a fan who had been reading the series since he was in high school.

Martin however is just a greedy selfish piece of shit who doesn't give a fuck about his fans.
