I plan on playing through the 5 classic 3d games (3, VC, SA, LCS, VCS). I will be playing the versions either on original Xbox or PS2. I want to start with GTA 3. I prefer original Xbox, however that's where my question lies.

Original Xbox has better graphics generally and controls (right trigger for driving instead of X button on ps2). Do Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories still use the X button on PS2 for the gas?

If they use the old PS2 controls, then maybe I should start by playing GTA 3 on PS2 so the controls and graphics match, then playing LCS and then VCS. Then after those on PS2, I move to Vice City and San Andreas on the original xbox where the controls and graphics are generally better so it will be less jarring.

I feel whatever order I play, if I start with GTA 3 on original xbox, it might be jarring to go back to LCS/VCS old graphics and controls. But I still feel GTA 3 is the best starting point for doing a playthrough of all these games. So I'm conflicted, I want to play the best version of 3, but I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of LCS/VCS by playing the better versions of 3/VC/SA first.

I'm leaning towards PS2 3>LCS>VCS>Xbox Vice City> Xbox San ANdreas

Any thoughts would be appreciated

LCS and VCS do use classic ps2 controls.

I like going by gameplay order.

3>VC>LCS>VCS>SA

3 and VC have the most dated gameplay, whereas LCS and VCS are watered down SA.

Thanks for your opinion, I think that would be my second option. In my order I'm trying to balance gameplay/graphics/story, but gameplay probably is most important. Still, the Xbox controls might override all for me, that right trigger for driving feels a lot better than the face button.
