Same, except I make even less. The average income in my town is 20k. I'd never trade these quite small town lives for whatever crazy area these folks making over 100k are making.

i'm finally half way to six figures... pretty proud of myself considering i'm a highschool dropout who got his GED at 21 lmao

i have been working at the same company five years and i go as hard as possible at work... people always made fun of me or said i was trying too hard. that it would never pay off. and now i'm making $25/hr and they're still making $10-$14. you reap what you sew, and i've been sewing success this entire time.

I literally don't know, was a legit question. I know that a redbull or a copy of CoD costs the same across SF, NYC, and Miami. But I do vaguely remember these things being significantly cheaper in Phoenix, but I also haven't been to PHX lately.

So what? I spend 150-180 on groceries a month, it's not like that tripled (and I eat 3000cal/day)

My mortgage is 800+200 HOA, I split that with my wife. My place is 850sqft

I only eat food I cook

I exercise for free, my hobbies are free

My commute is short and I usually catch a ride with someone else

I bought my reliable used car with cash

I rarely buy anything at all

What else is so expensive? I take two months off a year and have three day weekends. My vacations are climbing trips where I camp the whole time

100k is the most common? Interesting. I would say I don't believe it, but most people here are in their 30s-40s and work in tech.

I make around 80k but I'm right out of college and live in a MCOL area.

This is probably my ignorance talking, but what type of job pays less than 12k a year? I only put that, because that's the poverty limit where I live. You need to make less than that to qualify for aid.

Video games, sure, but even making as little as I do, I can still splurge on a game or two if I want. But these days I rarely do anyways.

And places like Walmart and Dollar stores making getting a months worth of groceries for like $100-$200 very easy.

It seems like a lot of folks can't comprehend that a good portion of people don't live in expensive cities. My buddy bought his first house for $8,000 8 years ago and his current nice house for like $25k.

Ime what they can't comprehend is not being consumerist

"But there's no way you can fit everything you own in less than 800sq ft that's impossible" is a common one

I live in a small town too and was able to pay off my house early making around $40k give or take depending on overtime.

People who live in or around big cities don't seem to understand how much different it is and that people making under $60k don't have to be poor.
