After about a year and a half it's finally DONE. Ahhhhhh!!!

Story:
When an evil wizard writes a 6000-page book to bore the townspeople to death, it's up to you to take the damn thing and return it FROM WHENCE IT CAME. You play as either Warrior, Thief, Wizard, or Cleric and journey through several different areas on your way to the evil wizard's tower.

About:
The main focus for this game was to create a fun roguelike with an easy to use control scheme. Speaking for myself as a player, I am often intimidated by the sheer complexity of many roguelikes where I'm always consulting the commands help trying to figure out what does what.

To this end, EQ2 is played almost exclusively with just the arrow keys to move around and the space bar to interact with different objects or circumstances. Moving on top of or next to something that can be interacted with and pressing the space bar will call up a context menu with any possible options you can perform, or automatically perform a minor action if there's only one possibility.

You can access the in-game helpful tip menu by pressing "H", wait a turn by pressing "W", "I" which opens your inventory, "S" which shows your status and skills as well as any current effects going on, and lastly "ESC" which lets you quit and save for next time.

Combat:
Fighting in the game is done mostly through running into enemies and triggering a 1st person battle. Combat options are determined by your class skills as well as the equipment in both of your hands. A sword for example has a move called Aim Slice which is more accurate but less damaging. Mace-type weapons can smash and reduce enemy armor. Rapiers let you dodge and have a passive where you'll automatically riposte the enemy after blocking with a shield. You can carry a shield and defend yourself, which also recovers stamina needed to perform these battle actions. You can even read The Warren Peace itself and put yourself to sleep for a turn! Etc etc, I shouldn't spoil it all here!

Additionally, upon reaching higher levels you'll be able to auto kill some weaker enemies just by bumping into them. I figure they're trivial for your guy by that point so it made sense to have it this way.

Equipment:
EQ2 has a heavy focus on making the stuff you wear or smash monsters with as interesting as possible. You can find hundreds of different pieces of gear and most of these can be upgraded up to three times each. A recent addition to the game is the Runic modifier, which can randomly appear on any weapon coming out of a chest. These can not only augment piddly weak-ass weapons like a knife but also a powerful unique axe. To give you some examples, you can have a knife that makes chests spawn more often, a club that increases enemy loot drop %, a sword that has a firey strike chance, a magic battleaxe that any class can use, etc.

So gear is divided up into- Common, Rare, Unique, Runic, Enemy Drop, and Heroic. Heroic gear is so good that it can't be upgraded further. You'll know if you've found one as it has a flashing green name tag. Enemies drop gear you can't really get elsewhere so between all of this it helps keep the game fresh.

Demo:
If you are curious, there's also a free demo on the store page you can try. It's not as up to date as the full game however it will for sure give you a good idea on what's up and if you might like it or not. The demo lets you play as the Warrior through the first two areas (Temple & Desert).

Any questions please ask away of course!

I got a huge surprise this morning, a popular youtuber put the game up last night and it's by far the most exposure I've gotten yet.

This video does have me thinking about all the flashing effects though- I mostly have them because the games I grew up with had them so I'm used to it but maybe it wasn't such a hot idea.
