Seems to be getting good fan responses on average, just from an initial search. I haven't gotten the game yet so I can't personally vouch for it.

I saw a few people say it's too easy, but that's not often a dealbreaker for people, so...
.
My bet would be that if you like turn-based RPGs, and especially if you like the SMT series, you'll probably like SMTV.

no one is talking about it because its smt so if you know you know and are probably too busy playing it
its honestly amazing how this is easily the most marketing it has ever gotten but the game is still so incredibly uncaring about wide apeal
it is no shit 10 HOURS into the game before you get any plot, I love it

but its genuinely impressive in other ways like how when quick traveling around the same area there are no load time
it seems like they prioritized functionality of the open world over performance and personally im ok with that, the last smt was on the 3ds so it still looks cool to me lol

I was looking forward to it, being a traditional turn-based RPG and all.

I personally don't care for it. I think the graphics are awful (ugly) and the story / characters aren't compelling in the least. Worst of all, it's a pokemon type game and all of the demons are pretty meh.

Granted, I'm only a few hours in, but that was enough for me to stop and go back to playing Octopath again, which is a beautiful game.

well 5 was pretty much finished on the 3ds and then they decided to put it on the switch, which is why it looks like, uh, a ds game

I find that hard to believe because this game very much could not be done on 3ds, and definitely doesn't look like a 3ds game even as scuffed as it is

yeah but sword and shield def could have been a 3ds game besides the wild area
smt 5 is all wild area
im sure it was being worked on for the ds but what we got def took a lot of switch development time

SMT5 wasn't developed for the 3DS at all, the reason it took so long was because they were working with Unreal Engine and had to port/make new models and work with the new hardware that is the Switch. I could see it maybe starting as a Wii U game but a 3DS game is an absolute joke, there's no evidence and Pokemon has 0 relevance because it's not the same company. Untill it's proven otherwise there's no reason to believe this.

smt 5 was announced the same year the switch came out, it had already been in development over a year before that.

the producer even stated that as the game entered development he started to play around with the switch and learned the merits of it switch then months later when the game was announced, it was for the switch.

that means it started as a 3ds game, seeing as how the wii u was already dead at that point and smt 4 was released on the 3ds already, which meant easy asset reusal.

but go on, i'll shit on you some more if you want
