She isnt the only politician in the world who receives death threats. But most of those politicians have at least some integrity to not use their history of receiving death threats to claim violence was being incited towards them at the mere hint of something that can be interpreted to be way more than it is just so they get the opportunity to grandstand over their opponents. Thankfully most politicians reserve such strong words when actual death threats are being sent their way, not a meme anime edit.

Dude stop. She obviously is a bigger target for threatening messages than most congresspeople, and another lawmaker fanning those flames should absolutely be called out. Why the fuck are you defending this?

As I said earlier, the guy deserves to face the consequences for doing something that is obviously extremely inappropriate. My issue is with her language depicting this as an incitement of violence, if you thought it was the appropriate language to use in this predicament then well just have to agree to disagree, I perceive it differently.

In this other case, it's not a depiction of any kind of violence that could ever be misconstrued as real. It's literally an anime opening with AOC's face photo shopped onto the body of a naked anime giant. The whole thing is a farce. It's a joke at the worst, and a metaphor at the best.

To equate it to angry celebrities acting out murder and violence in real life images/videos is reaching a bit too far.

Nope. In fact the reason shes able to grandstand on this is precisely because she knows the optics will be in her favor given she receives more death threats, but that doesnt change my perception that she just used the opportunity to grandstand, I dont think she saw the anime edit as a threat as seriously as shes letting on. But again thats just my perception given her history in which Ive noticed she tends to be purposely inflammatory by using stronger words and depictions than is needed for the situation - though I guess thats a politicians job tbh

If thats what you took from my posts then thats cool. Personally I dont get upset at people when I have no idea who they are for doing something extremely inappropriate, especially when they arent the centerpiece of the topic to begin with. Im familiar enough with AOCs history and the glorification of her on this board to be upset at something she said when I see her use the same tricks to grandstand quite frequently. But again, if you feel me getting upset more at what AOC said here than the guy who made the anime edit given I have no idea who he is or the fact that he wasnt even the main discussion point of this topic, then your emotions must work differently than mine.
