Most high earners do work an insane amount of hours, though. I make 150K a year and I'm right around there, 90+ hours a week. I've actually rented a hotel room several times because I was too tired to make the commute home lol

I'll say this. I was paid minimum wage and had a labor position at the beginning of my tenure at the company I work for now. I worked 60 hours a week for 3 years even though I was salary. I'm in corporate now earning 4 times what I made when I started. There are other people who work here who put in the time and got even more and there are others who nope at 40 who have enjoyed some growth, but nothing like mine. And check it out...I make 4 times as much and I often don't even hit 40 anymore. This is just my example, others get burnt...such is life.

If the system is working, you get what you put in. It's on you to find that place.

Or start a business and make your own hours.

It's about making the right choices and coming up with innovations that actually sell. Work ethic is only part of the equation. If you work 100 hours a week trying to sell something that nobody needs or wants, you probably won't be very successful.

I worked with an older gentleman who'd pull 80 hour weeks regularly because "that's what the business asked".

I also asked him how much he made and he told me, "This isn't socialism, not everyone gets a trophy".

Americans in particular have a weird toxic relationship with employers where employers are deified.

Having an idea for a business is great but without workers, there's no business regardless. Don't break your back for a place that'd fire you the instant you stopped turning a profit.

Passive income works for you, slaving away 100 hours is less than ideal. 40-50 hours is alright, passive income is best. I work 60, 5-6 10-12 hour days. But Im self employed and working on a comic book, ideal life for me.

2 people 9 hours
1 person 8 I guess so lets say 9 just to make math easier

400 / 3 = $133

$133 / 9 is $14 an hour

It is what it is. I got a job to move heavy shit around. I said I was more than a grunt. I proved it and they liked that...a lot. I put in extra hours because we were a small, growing company. I didn't own the company, but I helped in its growth working directly for the owner. I was given a promotion and a raise, then again, then again, then again, then again. It's been 15 years.

Now, I work around 30-40 a week in a very specialized and integral position...which I created for myself...and I earn much, much more than I did when i started.

Die on what hill? And why are you being so snide? Is this just jealousy? If it is...uh, 'meh'. I'm bored. There's millions just like you...who cares? If it's something else, you're doing a terrible job expressing it. Straight up...your hostility toward me confuses me.

Point of this thread is how people salivate over people like Musk and foolish buy into the idea that he worked so hard to get where he is, he deserves it and compare themselves to him and think they are like him.
We see two people already who did this. Yet they are nowhere near Musk and others can chime in saying they worked alot less and still make more than them.
That should be eye opening but it probably won't be when ego and earning power are conflated as one.
