Or can I watch them with almost no prior knowledge of the Batman Franchise and get the same level of enjoyment?

My history of Batman entails watching Batman Forever and B&R (lol). I've also played Arkham Asylum to completion, so I know some of his main enemies (Bane, Joker, Scarecrow etc) even if I don't remember how they fit into the story etc.

I've heard time and time again how good these films are so am keen to try them out but might be willing to watch some essential supplemental material to increase my viewing pleasure.

You do not need any Batman knowledge to enjoy them.

They do a good job of explaining and introducing everything.

They're also their own separate canon, so you don't have to worry about any other material.

I first watched Batman Begins with almost no knowledge of Batman outside of the very basics and had no trouble following anything. It's self-contained.

Of course if you are familiar with some of the characters already you will have some idea of what might happen, but that's all extra.

I have never had a burning desire to watch it. Superhero franchises have never done it for me. But recently watched the entire MCU back catalogue which I loved so thought I'd move over to DC.

I was more responding to KingButz, not you.

I used to think I wasn't a big fan of superhero movies. I think the issue is more I wasn't too big on a lot of the ones who were popular like Spider-Man, the X-Men, and even Superman and Batman (though The Dark Knight and the '78 Superman are still better than anything in the MCU IMO), while a lot of the ones who are just now getting film adaptations catch my interest better. Also I feel like I prefer the old-style of superhero films from the '90s and earlier over the current type, although that mostly means stuff like The Rocketeer and Darkman.
